Education Code 44258.7 allows a full-time teacher with special skills and preparation outside his/her credential authorization to be assigned to teach, with his or her consent, an elective course in the area of his or her special skills or preparation, provided the assignment is approved by the Committee on Assignments (COA).
Membership of the committee is required to include equal numbers of teachers and school administrators. It shall be made up of two Coronado High School teachers, the Director of Human Resources and the Director of Learning.
Assignments approved by the Committee shall be for a maximum of one school year, but may be extended by action of the Committee upon application by the school site administrator. All initial assignments or extensions would require approval prior to the assignment or extension.
