4.6  Approve Adjustment to Salary Schedule in Accordance with the State's Minimum Wage Increase  (Action)

Background Information:

The California minimum wage increased to $10.50 per hour on January 1, 2017 for businesses with 26 or more employees, with continuing increases scheduled each year until it reaches $15 per hour in 2022.  The scheduled increases may be temporarily suspended by the Governor, based on certain determinations.

The minimum wage effective January 1, 2020 is now $13.00 per hour.

Reports:
A revised salary schedule is attached.  The highlighted cells were increased to meet the minimum wage requirements.
Financial Impact:
The adjustment to meet minimum wage requirements affects only a small number of part-time employees.  The maximum impact of this change, based on historical pay for these groups in total is estimated at less than $5,000 annually.

Superintendent's Recommendation:

That the Governing Board approve the adjusted salary schedule.
