4.8  Adopt Revised Rates for CUSD Facility Use  (Action)
 

Background Information:

The Civic Center Act as defined in the State of California Education Code Sections 38130 through 38139 describes uses of school facilities, including all buildings and grounds for public purposes and the fees that may be assessed. This policy is subject to the limitations of the code, the Constitution of the State of California, and the other policies and regulations of the Coronado Unified School District Board of Trustees.

Reports:

Coronado USD has an interest in operating sustainable facilities. Staff have conducted market research of six San Diego County school districts with similar facilities to determine fair and competitive rates commensurate with the level of services provided.  The Board previously adopted rates for 'charge use' and 'fair rental'.  This action would establish an 'actual cost' rate and is aligned with existing Board policy (AR/BP 1330).  

Financial Impact:
Staff project increased revenues allowing the district to meet its goal of operating sustainable facilities.
Superintendent's Recommendation:

That the Governing Board adopt the proposed revisions to the CUSD Facility Use rate structure.
