The Governing Board conducted its annual evaluation of Superintendent Karl Mueller in closed session on June 6 and June 11, 2019. In accordance with his contract, the Superintendent was evaluated on his performance in the following six categories: Business and Financial Matters, Staff and Personnel Relations, Educational Programs, Professional and Leadership Development, Community Relations, and Board/Superintendent Relations.

During the 2018-2019 school year, Mr. Mueller met or exceeded expectations in all six performance categories.  The Trustees commend Mr. Mueller for innovative efforts to enact efficiencies to reduce expenses and for increasing revenue within the district.  Additionally, he directed his staff in finding compromises that ended lengthy labor negotiations without mediation or disruption of services. He supported student learning and achievement by finding new curriculum, incorporating best practices, and encouraging growth in student Social Emotional Learning.  The summation of these efforts were reflected in a newly developed Long Range Plan (LRP) which shall guide the district as we bridge to Basic Aid. The Governing Board concluded that Mr. Mueller was a highly effective employee throughout the 2018-19 school year and merits an overall positive evaluation in his job performance.

In recognition of Mr. Mueller’s growth as a superintendent, and as he enters the fourth year of service to our district the Governing Board is extending the term of his Agreement by one year to June 30, 2022.  In accordance with his Agreement, the Superintendent’s annual salary is increased by 1.5% for satisfactory performance and an additional 3.0% salary increase. His Agreement is amended to increase his salary to $201,528.00 per year.  Other terms of his contract will remain unchanged. A copy of the proposed amendment, which is subject to Board approval in open session at its regular meeting on June 20, 2019, is attached hereto.
