			4.11 Approve/Ratify Out of State Conference (Action)

Background Information:

Board Policy 3350 requires that out-of-state travel be approved. Board Policy further establishes that the Governing Board shall authorize payment for actual and necessary expenses, incurred by any employee performing authorized services for the district.

In addition, the Board of Trustees has authority, under education Code Sections 35044, 35172, and 44032, to reimburse employees for necessary travel expenses.

Reports:

The following employees are requesting Board approval to attend an out-of-state conferences:

Debra Buchanan will be attending the Dance Teacher Web Conference in Las Vegas, NV, from July 28 - August 1, 2019. The annual national conference includes four days of interactive sessions including high school curriculum, teaching tools and content for beginner through advanced students. Creating effective course content for jazz, hip-hop, ballet, lyrical and musical theatre.
Lindsay Goldman and Kristine Johnston will be attending the National Association of College Admissions Counseling in Luisville, KY, from September 26 - 29, 2019.

Financial Impact:

1. The estimated cost is $1,627 and will be paid by the Physical Education Professional Development budget.

2. The estimated cost is $3,630 and will be paid by the College and Career Readiness Grant.

Superintendent's Recommendation:

That the Board approve the out-of-state travel as requested for the above employees, and that the Board approve the actual and necessary expenses, including travel that will be incurred.
