In 2016, CUSD was the recipient of a 1.25-million-dollar grant from the Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA). This was the fourth grant awarded to CUSD following three previous DoDEA awards Project SATT 21 (2009), Project STEPS: Science, Technology, Education Plans=Success (2012) and Project M3 (2015).
DoDEA regularly monitors progress on the grant implementation via a thorough evaluation plan on all grant goals and key actions. The evaluation plan includes a report of progress three times a year, and an annual summative review. Both the Project A4L project director, Ms. Karrie Jackson, who serves as Teacher on Special Assignment for VAPA, and Dr. Shannon Coulter, Project A4L external elevator from the San Diego County Office of Education complete these evaluations. |

1.25 million dollars to CUSD through August 2021 to support both military-connected and all students to increase achievement in visual and performing arts, English Language Arts, and improve school engagement and college and career readiness of students. |
