CUSD Site Safety Plans:

Annually, by March 1st of each year, the Board approves comprehensive Safety Plans for all schools in CUSD. As requested by the Board, the approved plans have been updated to include the new Active Shooter/Armed Assailant Emergency Response and create a uniform safety plan across all sites that has been vetted through the San Diego County Office of Education. These plans utilize the National Incident Management System (NIMS), Incident Command System (ICS), and emphasize the development of strategies to prevent, mitigate, prepare, and respond to an recover from crises that have the potential to impact schools.

Safety Training:

In cooperation with SDCOE, CUSD held the first on-site staff training of the Run, Hide, Fight option of the Active Shooter Emergency Response on March 21, 2018. Training for all staff will take place before the end of the year. Marshall Redding is creating a refresher training video that will be available at the beginning of the 18/19 school year.

CUSD Safety Committee:

A Safety Committee planning meeting took place on March 21, 2018. An invitation was sent to all CUSD staff and parents to participate in the committee and have an opportunity to guide in preparing, updating, and implementing safety measures. Currently, we have approximately 45 interested in attending. Our first meeting will be held on April 11, 2018 at 6 pm in the District Office Board Room.
