6.3  Update on the Committee to Analyze the Student Learning Environments (CASLE)  (Reports)
 

Background Information:

At the February 18, 2016, Regular Board Meeting, President Simon established a Board Committee to analyze temperature extremes in all District owned buildings including the costs to install, operate, and maintain heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) in those buildings.

 

Members Smith and Pontes were appointed Co-chairs.

 

The Committee to Analyze the Student Learning Environments (CASLEs) is comprises of teachers and parents (many who have a background in the industry of climate control).  This committee is tasked to Analyze the environments in CUSD classrooms, define suitable learning conditions, and create a long-term, financially viable, and prioritized plan for addressing climate issues with the objective of providing a safe, comfortable learning environment for students.

 

Committee members meet the second and fourth Thursdays of each month at 7:00 to 8:30 PM

 

The attached report includes a summary of site visits held on May 3, 2016, and a draft Pilot Program proposal.
